This is the Theodore Roosevelt era edition of this great cookbook from 1907. Edith Carew Roosevelt's and Frances Folsom Cleveland's pictures adorn the opening pages of the book. This is a compendium of recipes, processes and culinary art prevalent in the White House kitchen at the time. At approximate 600 pages, this book has the room to represent everything that the dedicated chef or the ordinary cook should know about food, how to prepare it, how to present it and all the ancillaries that accompany the process. The book discusses the making of various wines, cordials, beers and mead. 

Book in good Antique Condition; readable, with all pages and overall good condition. It shows signs of regular use and reference AND it is also Repaired by previous owners. There are no loose pages but first dozen of pages are quite damaged as you can see in pics; the spine is not broken to the point of dysfunction, the pictures are still bright and distinct and the illustrations are truly reveling. While the pages are brown, as in many old books, they are not torn or stained. The covers and edges are stained showing the signs of use in the kitchen. The authors, Chef Hugo Ziemann and Mrs. F L Gillette, were well known and respected practitioners of the culinary arts at the time. This book is a marvelous addition to anyone's collection or library or kitchen for that matter.
