This stunning vintage MAVE Talavera hand painted 12.5" inches bowl is superb! Hand modeled and hand painted in Puebla, Mexico, this beautifully decorated piece embodies the real essence of Talavera pottery. It’s made in the time-honored tradition of Puebla Mexican pottery following a traditional method that came from Spanish ceramic craftsmen who emigrated to Mexico back in the 16th century.

Talavera pottery is distinguished by its naturally pigmented paints and its milky-white glaze, which tends to soften its typically bright colors -- cobalt blue, light blue, black, yellow ,orange, green, and rich rose. The brand name MAVE is derived from initials of the first names-- Mariano, Alfonso, Vincente, Emilio – of the Talabricense ceramic factory founders. The piece is marked with the MAVE Talavera legend and the number 27. This bowl is in excellent vintage condition. The colors are bright and vivid. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, or scratches. It is a truly stunning piece that would add authenticity to any collection.
